Slanghoek

Established in 1951, Slanghoek Cellar is situated in the picturesque Slanghoek Valley, 800m above sea level, surrounded by the majestic Slanghoek Mountains from which the cellar derives its name. The cellar is a mere 20km from Worcester and 90km from Cape Town.

The valley's geographic position, fertile, varied soils and microclimate are reflected in the unique character of Slanghoek's renowned and prize-winning red, white, sparkling, dessert wines and port. Since the first harvest more than half a century ago, Slanghoek's producers, viticulturists and winemakers have pledged their commitment to the cultivation of quality wine grapes and winemaking in order to yield premium wines year after year

Innovative technology and modern cellar equipment enable the winemakers and their team to produce wines that boast sought-after titles and prestigious awards, the most recent of which include three gold medals at the South African National Young Wine Show 2010, featuring two Best in Class winners (Hanepoot/Chardonnay blend and Colombar).

The Slanghoek Private Selection Crème de Chenin 2009 stole the show at the San Francisco International Wine Competition 2010, being crowned a double gold medal, with a silver medal for the Pinotage 2007 and bronze for the Chenin Blanc 2010. Slanghoek's Red Muscadel also continues to impress, the 2009 vintage conquering a gold medal at the Veritas Awards 2009, and the distinction of Top Muscat at the SA Terroir Wine Awards 2010.

Other recent distinctions for the cellar include five medals at the Veritas Awards 2008, one gold and one silver medal at the Michelangelo International Wine Awards 2008, a gold medal at the Muscadel Association Gold and Platinum Awards 2009, and a host of Wine Magazine Best Value accolades.
